Monty set for gruelling schedule

 - created on 17/02/2012

Montgomery Town have gotten used to hectic schedules, but the next 15 days provides one of the toughest spells from the club’s glory strewn four year adventure.

The rise from the lower reaches of amateur football to the top of the Spar One has included some memorable cup runs for good measure, but even the clogged up fixture lists have failed to halt the side’s march to mid Wales domination.

And this weekend’s clash at bottom side Aberystwyth University is the first of five games in 15 days, with two further league games mixed in with a Central Wales Cup replay at Rhayader and a Montgomeryshire Cup semi final with Llansantffraid Village.

A win this weekend will see them edge clearer of Rhayader who are not in league action, while Llanidloes Town will look to stay in touch when they host Welshpool Town.

Carno entertain Newbridge while Dyffryn Banw welcome Tywyn Bryncrug. Llanantffraid Village go to Dolgellau. Waterloo Rovers face Bow Street in their Central Wales Cup tie postponed from last week and Berriew try again against Rhosgoch.

But the big clash of the day is in Spar Two where leaders Four Crosses travel to a Llanfair United side determined to stay in touch with the top after a wobble. Meifod host Abermule while Llanfyllin go to Llandrindod Wells.

A league above and Caersws and Guilsfield will be looking to cement their mid table slots in the Huws Gray Alliance with home matches against Rhos Aelwyd and Llandudno Town respectively. Llanrhaeadr go to Flint Town United.

Amateur League side Bettws fly the flag for Montgomeryshire in the Emrys Morgan Cup when the area’s last remaining side in the competition travel to Aberdyfi.

NOTE: Amateur League secretary Bernie Jones has returned to hospital this week so we are unable to bring you the weekend’s fixtures. We wish Bernie well and a fast road to recovery.
